High
School
There were
four games decided by 6 points or less in an action filled
Sunday in the South Gym. As the playoffs near, all 9 teams are
still in the playoff hunt. Fastbreak and T's Titans are the
only remaining unbeaten teams. That will change Sunday at 10
am, when the two faceoff at USC. Lady Tsunami is off to a
great start, but has a very challenging weekend ahead of them.
Corky Farley
has HP Big Ballerz at 3-3. But there is more to the story.
HPBB defeated Lady Tsunami and lost to Fastbreak by 2 in an
exciting finish. The Ballerz have lost games by at total of 2
and 3 points. A win will secure a good seed in the playoffs
for this club.
Val
Mancera
and the Falcons struggled through a tough weekend with losses
of 3 and 2 points, as well. The Falcons look to get back on
track with a win against Westchester. The Falcons have no
seniors on their '09 roster. The Lady C's have gone through
some growing pains this summer, but that should be expected.
Preston Pointer
takes over and needs a few wins to secure a playoff spot.
Eight is
Enough.
Therese Berner
has 6 seniors and 2 juniors on a team that advanced to the
semi finals a year ago. The Titans are undefeated going into
the final weekend.
Denise
Woods
has the Lady Knights poised for a playoff run. The road before
the playoffs will provide good competition in the form of the
California Blaze and T's Titans. A win over the Blaze will
help bolster the team's playoff seeding.
The name has
changed, yet the game is still consistent. The California
Blaze are at .500 going into the final regular season weekend.
Julian Anderson's
club has 3 games in this, the final weekend. For Anderson's
squad, it could mean the difference between 2nd and 8th place.
This weekend is key for The Blaze.
Fundamental
Hoops met up with it's league rival Fastbreak and was handed a
tough defeat. The California Blaze, also defeated
Marshall
Dismuke's
troops. Now with the playoffs on the horizon, the defending
champion must get their house in order. Tsunami, the Lady C's
and HP Big Ballerz await FH in the final weekend.
