Rod Smith

Rod implemented and created the first NCAA sanctioned college basketball summer league in Los Angeles, better known as the Say No Classic. In Los Angeles and the Inland Empire, the Say No Classic has been in operation for over thirty years. Young men have gone from being high school 'phenoms', to college standouts, to professional basketball players in the NBA and overseas. Along with Rhonda Windham, Rod was instrumental in starting the Women’s Say No Classic at USC.

For the 2009 season, the Men’s Say No Classic Basketball Summer League was renamed the Rod Smith Memorial SNC Summer League. Both league’s  honored Rod by wearing his initials “RS” on their jerseys.
